About

I am a documentary photographer working to examine social and cultural structures both locally and globally. In the North East of England I have focused on industrial history and the changing social structure impacted by the loss of industry, as seen through changes in social housing and land use.

My photography has been widely exhibited, and has been awarded many international awards. I have completed commissions for Side Gallery for which I created a series of vignettes telling stories of life within the Bangladeshi community in Sunderland*, and with the homeless charity; Emmaus UK, exploring the support they offer to the homeless and the stories of the people receiving support.

Other on-going projects include: Shadow Boxing, exploring unlicensed and bare knuckle boxing in England, The Rise of the Far Right, documenting the increased presence of racist protests across the UK and Land of Forgotten Dreams which looks at the American landscape, the American dream, and the transient communities displaced by both war and the recent economic downturn.

I have also created a substantial portfolio of international work exploring the communal nature of the developing world focusing on how religion is practiced, trade is created and life takes place on the street.

My practice varies in form from traditional black and white to more formal considered colour images, all examining people and place.

Clients include; James Bay, Rolling Stone, Vice, FT Magazine, NME, The Big Issue, Open Skies Magazine, Boxing News and Boxing Monthly, Republic Records, Wichita Records, Banquet Records, Generator and many musicians and bands.

I am available for commissions, editorial and commercial work, education workshops and private tuition/mentoring.
